This space has been silent for a long while. In my defense, I was traveling in early August, moving to a new apartment in mid-August, and I'm still(!) waiting for a DSL connection at my new place. AT&T has wronged me, they have. Exactly who or what caused the trouble, neither I nor they seem to know. I won't delve into the details. Suffice it to say that they are odd but not particularly entertaining.

I expect to get DSL service on Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, I've stopped following the news and my favorite blogs. The funny thing is, life has gone on just fine for me. It will be interesting to see which, if any, of my formerly regularly read websites no longer appeal to me.
